‘Black Sails’ S4 trailer teases final showdown

Starz will premiere the fourth season of Black Sails at 9/8c Jan. 29. The network released a trailer for the final season during New York Comic Con.

The 10-episode fourth season of the high seas drama brings fans to the action-packed conclusion of the “Treasure Island” prequel. If you don’t know what happens, well … I’ll just say Captain Flint (Toby Stephens), who with other pirates is at war with the British and each other in the West Indies, might push his men just a bit too far.

Starz teases: The shores of New Providence Island have never been bloodier, but the closer civilization comes to defeat, the more desperately, and destructively, it will fight back.

Captan Flint, John Silver (Luke Arnold) and Billy Bones (Tom Hopper) figure prominently in the new trailer, as do many other characters. Hannah New portrays Eleanor Guthrie, who used to run all trade on New Providence Island. Clara Paget stars as priate Anne Bonny and Toby Schmitz is pirate Jack Rackham. Jessica Parker Kennedy plays Max, a former prostitute with an eye toward advancement. Ray Stevenson joined the cast in Season 3 as the iconic pirate Blackbeard. Luke Roberts also joined in Season 3 as New Providence Island Gov. Woodes Rogers.

The first three seasons of “Black Sails” averaged 3.6 million multi-platform viewers per episode*. The series is distributed in nearly 200 countries and territories worldwide. “Black Sails” has been nominated for multiple Emmy Awards, and won in 2014 and 2016 for Outstanding Sound Editing and in 2014 for Outstanding Special and Visual Effects in a Supporting Role. The show was also nominated for the 2016 GLAAD Awards for Outstanding Drama Series.

Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine created “Black Sails.”  They executive produce it along with Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. Chris Symes, Brad Caleb Kane and Dan Shotz also executive produce.

“Black Sails: The Complete Third Season” will available from Anchor Bay Entertainment on Nov. 8.  The DVD and Blu-ray has more than 40 minutes of special features, including 10 minutes of new exclusive content.
