Fox fall premiere dates announced

Fox kicks off its fall 2016 season on Sept. 19 with new seasons of Gotham and Lucifer. See all the Fox fall premiere dates below. All times are Central.

The network’s first new series, “Lethal Weapon,” debuts Sept. 21 before the return of “Empire.” Adapted from the film, the police series stars Clayne Crawford as wildcard LAPD Detective Riggs and Damon Wayans, Sr., as the soon-to-retire Detective Murtaugh.

Another new series, “Pitch,” joins “Rosewood” on Thursdays beginning Sept. 22. “Pitch” tells the story of Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury), the first woman to play Major League Baseball.

Chicago-set “The Exorcist” will air Fridays beginning Sept. 23. This new thriller—the Fox series I’m most looking forward to watching—chronicles a demonic possession in Chicago in present day. The series cleverly references events from the 1970s classic film that inspired it. The powerhouse cast includes Geena Davis, Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels. “The Exorcist” is paired with “Hell’s Kitchen,” which might be Fox programmers’ sly dig at that show’s terrifying host, chef Gordon Ramsay.

The fourth new series airing on Fox this fall is “Son of Zorn,” which debuts Sept. 26 as part of  Sunday Funday comedy lineup. “Son of Zorn” is hybrid comedy that follows an animated warrior (voiced by Jason Sudeikis) from a Pacific Ocean island who returns to California to win back his live-action ex-wife (Cheryl Hines) and teenage son (Johnny Pemberton).
