‘Mr. Robot’ trailer promises insane Season 2

Mr. Robot isn’t finished destroying corporate America quite yet: USA Network presented an insane trailer for Season 2 Monday.

“Mr. Robot” will return at 10/9c July 13 to follow up its hit freshman season. Stars Rami Malek and Christian Slater attended Monday’s NBCUniversal 2016 Upfront Presentation in New York City.

“Mr. Robot” follows cyber-security engineer Elliot Alderson (Malek). Elliot becomes involved in the underground hacker group fsociety after being recruited by its mysterious leader (Slater).

In the trailer, Slater is heard asking, “Remember the night of the hack?” He’s teasing the answer to a question that viewers likely have been asking since last summer’s Season 1 finale.

We see Mamie Gummer and an intimidating Craig Robinson. Also, President Obama (through editing magic) comments during a press conference about fsociety’s hack from the first season. The trailer presents some scary shots of the fallout from said computer attack.

“Round and round we go,” Slater’s character says after Elliot admits he was out for three days. “You not knowing what you did or didn’t do … our infinite loop of insanity.”

The trailer ends with Slater’s character appearing to shoot Elliot in the hea

Knowing who Slater’s character really is provides a completely different look at his and Elliot’s relationship—and at the show in whole. But spoilers … so I won’t comment on that yet.

Words revealed across the screen say, “This is what revolution looks like” and “Control is an illusion.”

It’s dark and mysterious and perfect. But it makes waiting until July 13 all the more difficult.

Creator Sam Esmail returns as writer and executive producer, and he’s directing all 10 episodes of the new season. Steve Golin and Chad Hamilton of Anonymous Content also executive produce. The series is produced by Universal Cable Productions.
